The annual Pick Your Peak Stair Challenge is back June 13-July 8!
Grab some friends and colleagues, put together a team, and pick a peak to tackle (the equivalent of the Wreck Beach Stairs perhaps, or maybe Mount St. Helens?).
Stair climbing is a great way to boost physical wellbeing by improving cardiovascular health, building muscle and strengthening the core. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to win great prizes each week.

Register Your Team for UBC Staff & Faculty Sports Day
Sports Day is Friday, May 6, 2016 and it’s a free event designed for staff and faculty to build teamwork and celebrate the end of the school year. Teams consist of 4-6 people, where you’ll take part in four physical or intellectual challenges and enjoy a free lunch! Most teams take about 50 minutes to complete the challenges. You can either register as an individual or team. Individuals who register will be matched with teammates from across campus who want to join your team.

Do you know your current level of heart health?
Faculty and staff are invited to take part in free cardiovascular health assessments as part of the CAMMPUS program (Cardiovascular Assessment and Medication Management by Pharmacists at the UBC site) from now until September 30, 2016.
Pharmacists will help participants complete a cardiovascular risk assessment and develop a plan to maintain a healthy heart. Pharmacists will also be able to help participants set health goals and track their progress over time.
The program, offered by the Health, Wellbeing, and Benefits team in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is covered by UBC’s extended health benefit plan and can help you make long-lasting changes to your health.

Let’s talk about mental health!
The UBC Mental Health Symposium is an annual one-day event held in collaboration between Student Development & Services and the Mental Health Network. On February 27th, you are invited to explore mental health groups and resources, participate in self-care activities and skills-based workshops, and increase your mental health literacy! Special guest AMS President Aaron Bailey will open the day, and attendees will have the opportunity to network and seek opportunities for collaboration.

UBC-V: Take a breather with the Travelling Health Fair , Feb. 10 to 25
As you’re reading this, do you notice your breathing? Are you slumped forward, tensed up, or taking shallow breaths? Do you have a lung condition? Each of us takes about 22,000 breaths each day, usually without even realizing it, and many of us are not breathing properly.
In an effort to help faculty and staff breathe easier, the annual Travelling Health Fair launches this February with a focus on lung health. The mobile clinic is a partnership between the Health, Wellbeing and Benefits team and the Pharmacists Clinic, and offers free, voluntary one-on-one health assessments and consultations.
