Six Canadian universities—UBC, SFU, Memorial University, Mount Royal University, University of Calgary, and University of Lethbridge—will jointly become the first post-secondary schools in the world to formally adopt the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges.

The Okanagan Charter calls on post-secondary institutions to embed health into all aspects of campus culture, across the administration, operations, and academic mandates; and to lead health promotion action and collaboration locally and globally.
