Increasing Physical Activity and Reducing Sedentary Behaviour

“A physically active campus enables all members of our community to move more and sit less in order to support their wellbeing, help them achieve their full potential and create a thriving UBC community.”

Small changes can add up to big impacts— moving more and sitting less can improve health and contribute to wellbeing in meaningful ways.  Whether you’re simply standing during a meeting, taking a movement break during class, or hitting the steps at Rec beach, incorporating movement into the day not only improves physical wellbeing but mental as well. As UBC strives to become a health-promoting university, we aim to create environments and opportunities where this is supported and encouraged.

Framework for a Physically Active Campus

A Physical Activity Working Group was formed to collaboratively develop a framework to guide physical activity strategies and priorities across UBC and get community members to move more and sit less.
